Why I’m Participating in the Great Canadian Hike

I’m excited to be part of this year’s Great Canadian Hike in support of the Trans Canada Trail — and I’d love for you to join me!
This nationwide challenge invites people across Canada to hike, bike, paddle, or roll and log their kilometres to collectively reach 30,000 kilometres in 30 days — the full length of the Trail, stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific and all the way to the Arctic.
The Trans Canada Trail holds a special place in my heart. My mom was a passionate supporter from the very beginning, and she made sure our family was part of it by purchasing inscriptions in pavilions across the country. One of my favourite memories is from August 26, 2017, when she was invited to Ottawa for the “Celebrations on The Great Trail” — a national event marking the Trail’s connection coast to coast to coast and Canada’s 150th anniversary. I was lucky enough to be there with her.
Being out on the Trail is more than just exercise — it’s a chance to breathe, to reconnect with nature, and to reflect. The fresh air, the sound of leaves underfoot, and the occasional glimpse of wildlife remind me how truly incredible Canada is — and how this Trail connects us all.
From September 20 to October 19, I’ll be logging my kilometres and raising funds to help keep the Trail accessible, safe, and thriving — for everyone, now and for generations to come.
