Why I’m Participating in the Great Canadian Hike

I work with Trans Canada Trail, which means I get to see its impact every day — how it connects communities, provides access to nature, and offers space for everything from daily commutes to cross-country adventures.

That’s why I’m taking part in the Great Canadian Hike this fall, logging kilometres with my team to support the Trail and those who care for it.

If the Trail has ever meant something to you, join me. Hike, donate, share. It all helps.

The Trail is closer than you think

Tuesday 15th Jul

In every place I’ve called home or visited family, the Trail is there.

We know it by different names. In Waterloo Region, you might recognize the Iron Horse or the Paris-Cambridge Rail Trail. In Fredericton, maybe you've crossed the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge. Just outside of Ottawa, locals will know the Sentier Prescott-Russell. In Halifax and beyond, it’s the Rum Runners, the Salt Marsh, the Harvest Moon — even the ferry between Halifax and Dartmouth.

The Trans Canada Trail is nearly 30,000 kilometres long, but its impact is deeply local. It runs through the places where we walk our dogs, go for a run, commute to work or find an adventure.

The Trail is where we are, and it's ours to care for; I hope you can help! In the meantime, find the trail near you: https://www.greatcanadianhike.ca/event/en/blog-where-is-the-trans-canada-trail-anyway
