Who can join?

Anyone can join the Great Canadian Hike regardless of age, location or ability. It’s free to register. 

When does the Great Canadian Hike take place?

You can register now and begin raising funds for the Great Canadian Hike. From September 20 to October 19, all participants have 30 days to log their activity. 

Do I need to be on the Trans Canada Trail?

You can log your activity from anywhere in Canada, on a local trail, in your neighbourhood, or on the treadmill. Every kilometre counts. 

What kinds of activities count toward my progress?

All activities count toward your progress. You can hike, bike, paddle, roll, run, row – or take part in any other activity that gets you moving.  

Are there prizes?

Participants have a chance to win prizes for reaching fundraising and activity milestones. Check the prizes page to learn more. 

How do I register?

Registration is free and easy. You can sign up as an individual, start a team, or join an existing one. Get started on the registration page. 

How do I fundraise?

Once registered, you'll receive a personal fundraising page that you can customize and share with friends, family, and colleagues. We also provide tips and resources to help you reach your fundraising goals. 

How do I log activity?

Starting September 20, you can manually enter your distance in your participant dashboard, or, if you use a fitness app like Strava or Fitbit, you can also sync your data for easy tracking. 

Where does my money go?

The Great Canadian Hike is hosted by Trans Canada Trail. Funds directly support trail development and maintenance across Canada. 

How do companies or workplaces get involved?
