About the Great Canadian Hike

Why we hike

The Great Canadian Hike is a nationwide challenge to hike, bike, paddle or roll in support of the Trans Canada Trail.

When you take part, you’re helping to protect and maintain Canada's national trail network. The money raised during the Hike directly supports the Trail from damage repair to accessibility improvements, from trail extensions to training opportunities.

You’re also part of a national effort to show that trails matter for our health, our communities and our connection to nature. Every kilometre you log is a way of showing your community that trails you love are important, and they deserve care and investment.

You can take part anywhere in Canada, on the Trail or off. It’s free to join, easy to participate and a powerful way to give back to the Trail that connects us all, from coast to coast to coast.

Powered by
Trans Canada Trail

The Great Canadian Hike is hosted by Trans Canada Trail, the organization that advocates, stewards and champions Canada’s nationwide trail system.

The Trans Canada Trail is the longest multi-use trail system in the world and it is always growing. It reaches every province and territory, and connects all three of Canada’s coastlines. Each section of the Trans Canada Trail is managed locally and supports different activities and community needs.

Your impact

Every dollar raised helps sustain and grow a national legacy Canada's incredible trail system. Together, we’re investing in healthier communities, a stronger trail network and a deeper connection to the nature that surrounds us.
