Why I’m Participating in the Great Canadian Hike

There’s something magical about being on the Trail. The fresh air, the stillness of the trees, and the feeling of connection to nature and community. I’ve always turned to the outdoors for peace, health and perspective — and the Trans Canada Trail offers all that and more.

This fall, I’m joining the Great Canadian Hike, a nationwide challenge where people across Canada will hike, bike, paddle or roll and log their kilometres to collectively reach 30,000 kilometres in 30 days — the length of the Trail from coast to coast to coast.

From September 20 to October 19, I’ll be logging my kilometres and raising funds to help keep the Trail accessible, safe, and thriving — for everyone, now and for future generations.

You can sign up to participate, donate directly to my fundraising page, or share my campaign with your network to help spread the word.

Let’s be part of something great — together.

My latest trip!

Tuesday 23rd Sep
I'm going to post trips at random from my Trans Canada Hikes starting with my latest one. Feel free to enjoy!
*******
A friend was in town, and guess what? She was willing to do a trans-Canada trail hike! I know! I thought it was awesome too! Goodbye West Montrose, hello Ariss! I am excited … one or two more, and I’ll be in Elora. Mind you, it was NOT smooth sailing. Two totally different bridges across the Grand River, including the one on the trans-Canada trail map, were out! We went to one side of the bridge, and it was out, so we walked back to the car, drove to the other side of the same bridge and continued from there. It was pretty spectacular. Meanwhile, my friend bought a bunch of Misty Mints at the Lost Acres Variety, which was an awesome looking General Store from out of the 1800’s run by some nice Mennonites, and some eggs from a stand! Nice. After that, the trip was pretty smooth. We saw a dude harvesting corn and many a biker. Now I’m on a random country road in Ariss, a bit dusty looking, but quite walkable. Elora, here I come! Meanwhile that’s 63.6+11.4+2.6+287.7 +2.2+3.7+7+7.8+43.4+35.9 = 465.3 km
