Why I’m Participating in the Great Canadian Hike

There’s something magical about being on the Trail. The fresh air, the stillness of the trees, and the feeling of connection to nature and community. I’ve always turned to the outdoors for peace, health and perspective — and the Trans Canada Trail offers all that and more.

This fall, I’m joining the Great Canadian Hike, a nationwide challenge where people across Canada will hike, bike, paddle or roll and log their kilometres to collectively reach 30,000 kilometres in 30 days — the length of the Trail from coast to coast to coast.

From September 20 to October 19, I’ll be logging my kilometres and raising funds to help keep the Trail accessible, safe, and thriving — for everyone, now and for future generations.

You can sign up to participate, donate directly to my fundraising page, or share my campaign with your network to help spread the word.

Let’s be part of something great — together.

BC rail trails

Wednesday 16th Jul
Here in British Columbia, we live in a spectacular part of the world with countless scenic trails to walk, hike, run and bike on 😍  My friends all know how close these trails are to my heart - so much so that we got married at the Little Tunnel on the trail!🤵👰

My hubby and I have ridden all the way from Hope to Castlegar on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail - which is part of the Trans Canada Trail 😁

These trails mean so much to me that I am participating in a fundraiser to help raise funds to keep these trails in good and safe condition. My fundraising goal is $250. In addition, I am committing to walking, hiking or biking 200 km between September 20th and Oct 19.

These trails require maintenance and sometimes need to be rebuilt - ie: Myra Canyon ~20 years ago, and more recently the Adra tunnel just this year (after being closed for ~ 30 years). Trail popularity has increased immensely with the introduction of e-bikes and it is very important to ensure those trails continue to be safe.

If you are able, I would appreciate if you could support my fund raising effort by making a donation.

And more importantly, I know a number of my friends have bikes or e-bikes so let's hit the trails together! 😊😄😁
