Why I’m Participating in the Great Canadian Hike
I’ve logged a lot of miles on sections of the Trans Canada Trail — including four FKTs on rail trails in the network: Cataraqui, K&P, Prescott-Russell, Algonquin, and Ottawa Valley. These trails are some of my favourite places to run. They’re safe, scenic, and a great way to explore Eastern Ontario.
This fall, I’m joining the Great Canadian Hike — a nationwide challenge to cover 30,000 kilometres in 30 days, from coast to coast to coast. It runs from September 20 to October 19, which lines up perfectly with our own Prescott-Russell Trail Challenge.
The Russell Run Club will be creating a team for members, friends, and the community to log kilometres together. Between our local runs, the PR Trail Challenge, and the Petit Train du Nord trip, I think we can rack up some serious distance while supporting a trail network we actually use.
You can join the team, donate to my fundraising page, or share it to help spread the word. Every kilometre counts — and every one helps keep these trails open, safe, and thriving for everyone.
