Supporting Canada’s Trail

The Trans Canada Trail is not just a trail. It's a 30,000-kilometre network that connects people and communities from coast to coast to coast.

I’m excited to join the Great Canadian Hike, a nationwide challenge to hike, bike, paddle or roll in support of the Trail.

From September 1 to 30, I’ll be logging my kilometres, contributing to the national goal of 100,000 kilometres in 30 days, while raising funds to help keep the Trail accessible, safe, and thriving — for everyone, now and for future generations.

You can sign up to participate, donate directly to my fundraising page, or share my campaign with your network to help spread the word.

Let’s be part of something great — together.

Why I chose to participate in the Great Canadian Hike

Wednesday 2nd Sep
Last year I was fortunate enough to be introduced to the Great Canadian Hike through a company sponsored initiative to get employees outside and moving while supporting the incredible Trans Canada Trail.
The timing also aligned perfectly with bringing home our new fur baby Roscoe, who made it easy to accumulate those KM!

This year, my why is very different. 6 months ago I slipped on ice while taking Roscoe for a morning walk and upon falling dislocated and fractured my knee cap. My road to recovery has been slow but steady, 1 full leg soft cast, 3 different types of braces and lots of physio later I am getting back to where I was pre injury.

My goal this year is to use this challenge as motivation to not only continue to heal my physical self, but also regain trust and confidence in my body while moving outside. I have always found nature to be incredibly healing  and feel profoundly blessed to live in a province/country with an abundance of natural beauty all around us.

Which is why challenges like the GCH are so important, we need to protect and maintain this incredible landscape that we are so fortunate to be a part of.
