Supporting Canada’s Trail

The Trans Canada Trail is not just a trail. It's a 30,000-kilometre network that connects people and communities from coast to coast to coast.

I’m excited to join the Great Canadian Hike, a nationwide challenge to hike, bike, paddle or roll in support of the Trail.

From September 1 to 30, I’ll be logging my kilometres, contributing to the national goal of 100,000 kilometres in 30 days, while raising funds to help keep the Trail accessible, safe, and thriving — for everyone, now and for future generations.

You can sign up to participate, donate directly to my fundraising page, or share my campaign with your network to help spread the word.

Let’s be part of something great — together.

Logged a paddle!

Friday 11th Sep
I did my first paddle for the Great Canadian Hike yesterday, on our local creek. I've heard the salmon are running so I might try to go again earlier in the day when it's easier to see into the water. But it was fun to see some wildlife, a racoon, heron, and some sort of big rodent (maybe a beaver?) swimming around.

Discovered a new trail along the water right by my house!

Another great perk of the Hike, exploring fun areas I didn't know about.

The hike has begun!

Friday 4th Sep
My first few days of the Great Canadian Hike and I'm excited to have already logged 10 kms! I joined a local evening walking group I had been meaning to try, took a lunch call outside so I could walk around my neighbourhood and biked to the gym on the Trans Canada Trail. You can log kms anywhere, but it's extra fun to be able to log them when I'm on the TCT because I experience what we're all working to protect with this event.

Getting ready to hike!

Tuesday 18th Aug
It's time to bring my bike in for a tune-up and make sure I have all the straps to load my kayak, because the Great Canadian Hike is starting again in a few weeks!

I'm excited this year our collective goal is even bigger,  and we are going to be meeting more Canadians in person at events and walks all across the country to inspire more of us to get active.

On a personal note, my hike last year did what I had hoped and helped me use active transportation more often and develop my personal fitness routine. Since last year I've done my first fun-run and I'll be using the Great Canadian Hike challenge this year to train for my first 5k in Toronto in October!

Here's a picture of us hiking in Jasper National Park in Alberta this summer.

Cheer me on by giving a gift to my fundraiser! And let me know what you think, should my personal goal be even bigger this year?

Thank you to my supporters
